Hi what is the difference between my turbo and a turbo on a 99 or 2000 7.3 ?

Could a newer turbo be modded to work on my truck ?

 

newer turbo is smaller...... it can be done, but if you ever want to go up to stage 2s our turbo is much much better.

 

this is one of the parts you would need, then a turbo. it looks like you would have to get an intercooler also. i just put a d66 turbo in mine and it made a huge difference. money well spent for myself and how i use my truck. im not sure if there would be another way to convert yours to a SD turbo but if you did you would have alot more options for upgrading than we do now. You will need up-pipes, exhaust collector, turbo, down pipe, pedestal, y-pipe and intercooler, or make a custom intake Y to not include an intercooler.

No an easy or worthwhile project unless you are planning to use a drop in turbo for the SD like a Turbonetics or Garrett Ball bearing turbo.
