Well boys, finally got my HX50 and mount. I'm still within my budget. I actually got the 19cm HX50 for cheaper than I planned for. Here are a couple pictures and there a more in my gallery. The turbo that's sitting on the mock setup is a H2E Charger.
Is that the turbo from ebay? also what are the details on your mount? buy it? build it? $$$? It looks great! What are you doing with the H2E?
Yes, I purchased the 19cm HX50 from Ebay. As far as the mount I found an individual on the net that had one for sale. I don't know much about it, where or how it was made. Looks like a pretty good setup.
I'm hoping the hood will close. If not, I'm gonna have to opt for a real cowl hood. The HX50 is identical to the H2E so it should fit. What do you think TJ, does it look like it will fit?
The Charger is the P.O's.
As of right now... without a couple air to air boots and clamps I'm around $800 for the project. So I'm still cheaper than a D66, and can't wait to begin this project!
So this would be the second turbo project on the agenda. We still have to put the Schwitzer on my bro's cummins sometime.
It says UDP on it. I looked into this myself but have found nothing on it. I'm not sure if the individual I purchased it from made it or what.
I'm thinking the hardest part of this adventure is fabbing up the downpipe. The OD of the HX50 is 4" while the ID is 3". So you really don't need a 4" dp with the hog.
I would like to have a real cowl hood. One that is about 3 inches higher in the back to get the air moving through there. I'm sure it would help with cab and maybe my feet wouldn't sweat driving down the highway anymore.
The crappy part about this is I don't have any available time to work on this project. Looking at my schedule, August looks like the only month I can get some wrench turning.
I forgot to mention I got a y-pipe and oil lines too. I'm thinking that installation shouldn't be too difficult. Hopefully have it completed during a weekend span.
I am wondering about getting the up-pipe on the engine with the engine and cab in place. I know it is really tight back there. I am not sure you can sneak those pipes in there. Might be tricky.
