P1635 Error

Can anybody help me? My CEL is on and I pulled this code...I made the mistake of using a Hypertech programmer and the code came on soon after. I do have a stock code I saved from my SCT, would it fix it if I put it back in? any help would be appreciated!

Well, I guess I stumped the panel on this one! That can't be a good sign...

P1635 = 5 volt reference low.

google "obd2 and code number" will give you just about any code out there.

P1635 - Tire/Axle Out of Acceptable Range

DTC indicates the tire and axle information contained in the vehicle ID (VID) block does not match the vehicle hardware. Could be caused by incorrect tire size, incorrect axle ratio, incorrect VID configuration parameters.

Sounds like a programming error in the VID block causing a conflict. Like you suspect, it could be your programmer...

Do you think re-programming with a good stock cal would clear it?

I am thinking it would be worth a shot... If you took it to a dealer the first thing they are going to do is check the parameters of the VID block and more than likely reprogram it...

The issue is strictly programming related from everything I have read...

Sorry about the wrong info. I thought OBD 2 codes were generic but apparently they are brand specific. The 5 volt reference code is for GM and Isuzu. P1635 for Ford is indeed the tire reference dimension.

Mike, from reading a lot of your posts, it seems like you have had just about every programmer made and hated them all.lol. Which one did you hate the least? I'm looking to trade in my flashpaq for an SCT, is that a good move?

elee3- My SCMT1704 upgraded to the same tune level as an 1804 FlashPaq wasn't nearly as impressive and functional as my X3, IMHO...

So my secret is out!

With the right tunes the SCT would be my choice, I have tunes from Spartan but he refuses to send me the new ones. And I have tunes from Innovative, Eric has been great!, very responsive..I'm searching for the elusive mileage gain and I just can't find it. Eric's Gen Econ tunes is a great daily tune but I didn't see any mpg increase, so I tried the Hypertech..what a mistake!
