I have the famous check engine light on, P-1309 code. I have the 5.0 liter engine. The check engine light came on a few days after I replaced the CMP because it was squeaking (no check engine light at this time).
I set the CMP as I found it and not with the tool because the tool would put the sensor in a different position when number one piston is at TDC.
I have replaced the DPRS and checked the EGR which appears to be working. I have also used a can of BG44K in the gas tank.
One other problem which I do not think is related, the windshield defroster will always blow some air from the air conditioner and I have lost some dash vent flow. Could this be a vacuum leak causing the P-1309?
Should I replace the PCM? HELP, I do not want to pay the dealer a week's pay to fix this.
