I put some 6x9's in my Bronco II. Huge improvment in sound but hell to put in. There was LOTS of cutting. I need to replace the 3 1/2" speakers in the dash cause i blew them last night
Cutting a hole for bigger speaks looks like a daunting task but it really is pretty easy. a good pair of tin snips and you can open that bad boy up like a can of sardines, (it helps to mark your cut carefully and have strong hands, but it's not that bad).
Self tapping screws in, 3M T-Taps for the wiring, you're good to go.
You may have to do a little pushing and shoving if you have power windows, otherwise, have fun.
u can fit what u want in there if u have the patience to cut all that metal away. maybe it would be easier to build some type of holder for the 6x9"s where the 5x7"s are so u dont have to cut any metal? have it lay across the cab corner so it looks nice and place it in there. this is just a suggestion i thought of when i was pondering if i wanted to put 6x9"s in my truck (regular cab ) but deemed it to much work
If you get the right kind of 5x7, the 6x9 wont sound much different. You will get a little more bass out of the 6x9 obviously, but if your looking for bass, I would recommend a sub and amp. If you are just hellbent on cutting into your truck, (which i would avoid like the plague if I were you) see if you can get your hands on a good pneumatic or electric reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade. Much cleaner and quicker than tinsnips.
