ok my friend has a 84 ford ranger v-6 5speed, and we hooked up a jensen HU. it works great being we didnt have much experence on hooking up HUs in older trucks. but there is a problem, when he is driving it will stop playing music, they cd player is on and running but the music isnt playing through the speakers. we checked all the connections and everything seems good. but funny thing is, when he turns it off and turns it on again, it will play. it doesnt have a pattern on when it will stop playing.

Sounds like it could be some loose solder joints inside the radio. I had a Pioneer that did something similar. I opened up the radio and found some of the chips were not soldered very well. I resoldered them and it worked good for many years. Maybe not your problem, just my $.02.
