Dan, you're not supposed to laugh at your customers, but I don't think any of us could have held it in after seeing that. Thanks for the laugh.

Dan, what was the miles on that car? We have a customer that has 485,XXX miles and brings it in for maintenance still. He is a nice old gentleman. We als have a another old gentleman that has an 02 tdi with 8k miles and brings it in for service every 1200-1500 miles. I asked him to sell it to me but have had no succes.

Mileage is unknown. Car was purchased last month by the current owner. Current owner is the one who put the stack on.
They man driving it is the father of the owner.
All three of us, (Dad, my employee, and I) were getting a good laugh over it.
It was all very good natured humor.
Dad ownes the E-450 where this picture came from.

Tranny is blown because it is a 13,000lb work truck towing a heavy trailer and he got into a situation where he had to try and back up a steep hill. Reverse gear didn't survive that little scenario and it is at the dealer getting a new tranny. ( I didn't find out about that until today or I would have told him about BTS.)
They also own the Rabbit Pickup with the 1.9 TD pump turned up, intercooler, VERY fast diesel where this picture of a dusted turbo came from.

Son is good at car repair and the whole thing is torn apart right now getting fixed by him, or so Dad says.
I do have one customer who has a 1985 Golf NA diesel who drives 35 miles one way to get to work. Her odometer broke with around 4xx.xxx miles on it.
It still starts in the morning with very little smoke.
I change her oil every 10k, using Mobil 1 Delvac 5-40.
She just bought a 05 Jetta TDI, common rail stick shift. The Golf is now kept for when she goes to ride her horse.
.
For those of you looking for a TDI there is one in AL with a lot of miles but a good price. Stick shift. All the others listed have autos. I typed "VW tdi" into the search box and got 5 hits nationwide.

OOHH, to have access to the up-pipes like that. I might start looking for a TDI around here. I just feel so safe in my big truck.

The up pipes are from an E450 van. It's a trade off. Easy access to the back end, no access on the front side.

Why do things have a good side and a bad side? Why not both sides good?

Apparently it's a progression. My 64 pick up had all good sides, the 2008 350's have all bad sides. So much for technology making things better.
