It appears that most like to go with original bumpers. I voted for no bumpers mostly because I made a rear roll pan with license plate recess, I 've thinking of installing a front bumper but I'm not exactly sure yet.I do like the looks without the bumpers. As for comments about safety from damage, I think that is either here nor there, with so many jacked up 4x4's and most of our rides lowered I think that even in a parking lot scenario there is going to be damage.
This bumper discussion reminded me of a '56 F100 I saw at the Motor Magic show in Minot, ND, last Labor Day. I like the way the bumper wraps around the front of the truck.
Now, back to the thread.
Does anyone know if this bumper is sold anywhere or is it a one of a kind. I'd like that on the front of my panel.
Only front bumper for me. Going with a roll pan in the rear.

That's what we are thinking of doing. Send me pictures when you have it done. Our rear bumper looks like a rookie welded it on. We've been looking around and we both like the look of the roll pan in the rear.
That bumper definitely works AX, It is likely shortened?
I don't know a lot about it, the truck was for sale on ebay a while ago. I contacted the seller who was not the owner when it was done. All he knew was where it came from. I measured up one, and it would fit a panel almost perfectly. I don't know the dimensions any more or what would need to be done for a pickup. GM also used the same bumper on the Malibu station wagons of the same era (early 70s?)
well- well- well, give me 4 simple lines to pick from and sure enough i click on the wrong vote!! i wanted to vote for front only, but clicked on rear only. i'm not blonde, but i am italian! just think these old trucks look good without a rear bumper-Imho
Got a set of bumpers in our raffle this year. You were very lucky last year Ed too bad you can't make the show this year and buy some of those tickets.
Got to have a front bumper to scrap the ground going up my driveway.
LOL.... Oh great, you would tell me this now Ed. LOL.... In fact, I need a new rear bumper on my truck too. Last year, I was looking for the gas tank and won it at the show, this year I need the bumper and you tell me there will be some in the raffle. Sure wish I could make this years event, but it won't happen this year, hopefully next year!. Hope you guys have a great time. Take some pics.

That bumper is off of a 78-87 El Camino. The bumper is the same for all those years. Check out ebay, they have several for sale. There is even one guy that sell fiberglass ones, which is pretty cool.

What do you like better? My truck came with no rear bumper but as I said earlier, I think it wise to have something to protect my tailgate and rear fenders from a small rear ender.
The rear bumper does make it easier to climb into the bed... And the tailgate does not hang straight down with the bumper... But you have to be careful not to put a crease on the tailgate where it contacts the bumper.
I'd say with the bumper if you brought it up a bit and maybe tucked it in. Just my opinion. You'd have to do something with the license plate also, because the bumper is covering it up. Or, you can sell that shiney rear bumper to me Abe....:
