Question Octane and Power Programmer?????

Hey guys, I am new to the site and am glad I found ya'll. Just to give you a brief rundown, I have a 1999 F250 SC SB 4x4 with a V10. I am just the second owner of this truck and have had it a year. I have a leveling kit, throttle body spacer, air intake, aftermarket grill, 295 terra grapplers, dual flow masters, and just ordered a diablo programmer. My question is (I don't know why but), I run 89 octane gas in my truck now and want to know would the 91 octane program on the diablo unit run on 89? May seem like a crazy question but I have read some of the threads on this forum about octane. Help would be great. I have never done a programmer before. Thanks

Don't use the 91 tune with 89 you will probably get pinging due to the advanced timing. My dad has the Diablosport tuner for his V10 and I loaded the 87 tune in his truck and got a lot of pinging on 87. With the price of fuel I would run 87 if at all possible. 87 is all I run in my truck, it was designed to run 87.

I was not sure about running the 87 program. I have read some of the posts in the forum that said that on the 87 program they did not see noticiable gains. Have you seen some gains from 87 program? I don't mind using 93 oct on the 91 program due the fact my truck is not an everyday driver. I use a company truck during the week.

I run the 87 tune and modified it, put a little more fuel all they way around and advanced the timing about 3 clicks and got no ping here. The idiot MPG guage says 12 most of the time, I've hand figured it to be 14.2 combined. Power is okay, the exhaust and other things made the predator a nice addition to it. On its own though I don't think you would notice much gain.

You won't see much more power with an 87 tune however other parameters can be adjusted to make the truck feel much more responsive.

I run a Superchip Programmer and 91 octane fuel in my truck. The seat of the pants feel is outstanding. Plus I have raced a friend of mine with his stock V-10 and beat him bad in the 1/4 mile.
