in the middle of disc swap.all that remains is the proport. valve hook-up.was not able to get the old lines from valve so im curios of the fitting sizes.3 of them seem the same.other two not sure. also, is it best just to tie into the old lines with couplers or run new.?what about best valve location?anybody familiar with this project i welcome there expertise and tips.
I'm in the middle of the same project. Get all new lines. Cheap peace of mind. Just buy the ready made ones from the auto parts store. As for location, I put mine on the frame rail below the steering box so I could get easy acess to it. Any location should be good. You are correct about the fitting sizes. I can't remember off hand what that other one is. I'll try and check this weekend.
I am doing the same swap. I haven't changed my valve yet, what are you guys using? I looked at some late model stuff and its metric fittings. Some of the 70's I noticed have different size fittings on the brake pipes. The line is 3/16" but has two different size fittings. Either way it looks like new lines is the way to go. I think I am going to get the one in the LMC catalog. Or is a new one from ford cheaper?
I am also working on a 67 Cougar doing a granada disc swap. Same problem also I had to buy straight 3/16 line and cut it to size, then re-use the old fitting that screwed into the line at the rear axle, and flare it. The one that comes on the other end fits the wheel cylinder. It seems that ford chose to use different sizes everywhere! So don't throw your old lines out just yet, you may need the fittings. If ya got the cash invest in a good flare tool from Snap-On or Kent Moore.
there are 3 different size fittings on these valves.its imperative that you get these fittings and even better the whole lines if possible.just makes it a lot easier.any valve up to 1979 should work.
I couldn't figure out the threads on the valve so I took it to a fitting shop and bought pieces so I can run all 3/16 tubing. If I ever have a problem with any of the brake lines I can just buy a length at any parts store, bleed, and be on my way.
