One other tip, twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) NAPA will have their big "FILTER SALE" all filters will be 1/2 off. Make sure and watch for the sale then buy one or two at the $25-28 price! I missed it this spring by one stinkin' week! grrrr, BUT that's when I discovered FleetFilter.com If you get more than one at a time the shipping will still be the same (or close to) and that helps bring the cost of each filter down even more. I can't find my invoice right now but I think buying 2, ended up making them about $32 ea. including shipping to Northern IN. Good luck...
It's not just Napa that has the sales. Find out who the local Wix rep is in your area and see if he will tell you who is having the next sale. I talked to my local wix rep and he hooked me up with a sale at Carquest a few months ago where I got the 6637 filter for $22.

Excellent advice, pard. I'll have to keep that in mind too. Next time I "need" one, there may be a sale on at one of the other parts stores, cool.

Excellent information, Chris.... it would be worth you starting a new thread with that tidbit just so it can catch everyone's eye more easily.
Reps to you, man.
EDIT - gotta spread it around some more, but I'll make it back to you soon.
It turned out to be a trial and error process that I was able to finally pin the wix guy down on. The sales vary by region and different stores have their sales at different times (I'm guessing so Wix doesn't run out of filters by having everyone ordering at once).
Not all the stores spend a lot of time advertising the sale so it's best to make friends with someone so you know what's coming. They all get a couple of weeks notice at least.
I remember that thread now. I'm going to have to invest some time at a couple of stores and stay in touch with them.... either that, or the WIX man for my area, which may be easier.
