I just ordered my DP, got my exhaust delivered today, gauges on the way, vb on the way. Should have all by weeks end. My question is, should I expect compressor surge, or is it just a truck to truck thing? I do tow a 7k trailer a half dozen times a year.
Hey Terry, with the 6637 filter, with the exhaust, your letting you truck breath alot better, but i think the stock turbo can only suck in so much air and you'll get the surge at WOT. The only way to find out is when you get the exhaust in take it out and find a nice long road and mash on it through all the gears and if you hear it cutting out like its defueling, then you know. Hopefully you don't, but i did, threw the WW in and wala, no surge. Congrats on the goodies, have fun.
Surge is like a pressure cooker sound.... pssst...pssst....pssst.
If you are considering spend $400 on a ATS housing, I would contact JTHarvey and see if he still has his Van Turbo available......I believe he wanted about $500 for it, but don't quote me on that.
Dennis at ITP told me to hold off on the ATS. He said to see if I have surge first then put it on if I did. This was before I installed my Van Turbo. He said it was possible but not always going to happen.
