After 3200 miles I'm back. The fishing was excellent. The big girl did it with just a couple of minor hickups. Pinion seal decided to give up while we were still in California. Caught that early luckily. Great help from the guys a NAPA in Simi Valley. They had the new seal and loaned me the puller and some advise to get things apart. Even offered to keep the store open late if I didn't get done before they closed. The scary one was after crossing the border I started getting a battery light. Thought my new alternator was going but turned out the battery terminals just needed a little cleaning.
Thanks again to everyone who added to my "What should I bring" post but since nobody suggested a pinion seal you are all now on my **** list.

Some serious pucker factor on Mex1.
I would say that that road has big shoulders and is a FREEWAY LOL but the asphalt looks very good. what parts did you visited in my country, and where is that shore? I suppose is in Baja, right?
Our main target was Yellowtail. That's what the three in that picture are. We got 39 of them. Didn't keep that many though. Pound for pound the Sea of Cortez Yellowtail are the hardest fighting fish I've ever experienced. A 30 pounder pulls like you wouldn't believe. We were using 50# line on gear that we use for Alaska Halibut and broke off several fish.
The brown fish in the picture is a Leopard Grouper. Got a few of them along with several other oddball species. We're putting a bunch of pictures and videos together on a blog so I'll add that link here when it's done. Here's a couple of links in the mean time for anyone interested. My brother and friend Sam on last years trip. A local guides site.
Roentgeep,
Yes it was Baja. San Lucas Cove, about 10 kilometers south of Santa Rosalia, BCS. We fished around Isla San Marcos. Beautiful area and great local people. It was my first real trip into Mexico and I will definately do it again. They could do something about the width of that road though.

Glad to hear that you liked the area and local people. And nice to know that you would do it again. Yes that road are very very tight.
nice fishin!
wouldnt mind going to do something like that myself.
Could use a fishing trip...
But that would anger my PMS cause i'd be spending money elsewhere.......
Yes, PMS. Had a long talk with the big girl before we left and promised at least a new compressor wheel if not a whole new turbo if she did good. Even threw in the "I" word a couple times. Seems it worked so some fine mods are forthcoming.
Brand??? What did they do, get em at walmart or kmart for the photo?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
LOL The sad part is that their are some folk in this country that do not know where the meat they buy at the store come from! What you mean hamburger comes from a grain and grass eating cow that makes smelly manure.....eeewwww.
Only thing I wanna know is why that call it HAMburger when it comes from a cow, and ham comes from pig. Always one of those trivial things that has bothered me. I even looked up the origin for the word. Simply states unknown.........
Well i dont think we want to get into a lot of cullinary stuff but i think it is named hamburger because it was supposedly first served in Hamburg Germany stop me if i am wrong. but it was originated from beef tar-tar wich is chopped up steak served raw. i think at least but i just like to call it good!!! its making me hungry now thanks guys. looks like an awsome time i would love to do that sometime!
