install for EGT sensor

Does anyone know the link to the installation guide for installing the pyrometer in the exhaust manifold? There used to be a neat site with pictures and instructions such as idling while drilling and tapping. Thank You Trayder

When I did mine I used thick grease on the drill and tap to try and capture the metal shavings. I then used a strong magnet to pull any remaining shaving from the hole. All went well with no problems.

I would not recommend running the engine while drilling the exhaust header. I used cutting oil, lots running down my arm, and shop vac'd the whole afterwards.

Make sure you're wearing eye protection! I wore a full mask since I didn't want any metal shavings twixt teeth and gums or in my nostrils.

I second that too.

I wore a set of goggles, not just glasses, and a small piece of metal still managed to get under the goggles and into my eye. Lucky for me by the time I climbed out from under the truck and made it into the bathroom, the particle had found its own way to the inside corner of my eye without scratching my eye surface.

I did my best not to blink.

I did mine engine running, lots of heavy grease to hold the chips and even more patience while I stopped often to clean them away. The event was more emotionally traumatic than anything. I don't like being under running trucks!

I drill mine with out the engine running. a drill bit is made to bring the metal shaving out. I also didn't use grease or cutting oil because I wanted to be able to Vaccumn the fine metal particles out afterwards. All went well. There is so many way to do it. I don't think there is a "right way" you just have to do what you feel comfortable with

When I drilled mine I duct taped the the shop vac hose right next to the hole I was drilling. The shavings would be sucked right up. Same concept as my dust collector in my wood shop. I then vacuumed out the hole really good. I then started the truck just to make sure the was nothing inside and then I installed the pyro probe. I had no problems at all except for all the sweat rolling down my face worried that I would screw up the truck.
