Inlet Air Temp Sensor

I have a 94 F150, 5.8. Where is the intake air sensor on this thing? Also, what is the purpose of the thermactor fittings on the back of the heads? Could I remove them and plug the holes?

Drivers side top of the intake, near the line of injectors just forward of center.
