Hi all. What is the job/purpose of the air charge sensor? (near EGR valve). I'm wanting to clean the sensor but don't want to damage it. I imagine its fuel/air ratio related. Thx.
It is used along with the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor to calculate the mass of air in the engine. That is used for fuel control and to calculate the torque the engine is producing which is used for transmission pressure control.
Thx Mark. Can this sensor be cleaned with MAF sensor cleaner? I cleaned the intake when I did HG's but over looked that sensor. I'll be pulling the MAP sensor hose this weekend and was going to do the Air Charge Sensor also. Thx.

Back to the OP's topic
Is he talking about the IA2? When I cleaned mine I used the same
carb spray I use on the EGR valve. It was some nasty black gummy goo.
Cleaned off very nice and I found that the snorkel tube for the spray can
came in very helpful in blasting out the goo. One thing I did do was not
let any of the spray get on the plastic top side of the sensor.
Now on to this
