I just installed a blaupunkt miami cd player in my truck, it gets extremely hot while its on, but not playing, and gets hotter while playing. I know its going to get warm, but i don't think it should get so hot that i can hardly touch it.
Also you have to physically move the CD player to get it to play all 4 channels.. i have to adjust it like this every time i drive.
I've pulled this cd player from my lincoln and in this car it worked fine..no problems what so ever.
I've heard numerous similar complaints on the Blaupankt cd receivers. A buddy of mine had one in his Contour and it also got super hot, and eventually got bad enough to start skipping. If all your wiring connections are correct and the unused connections are not shorting out behind the dash, then I'd trade that thing in for another brand of cd receiver.
Thanks Cig...i belive i figured it out. when i had the install done they didn't crimp off the power antenna wire, so it was arcing in between the dash and the radio, causin one helluva short. i used some electrical tape and taped it off, and re-ran my power wires. The guy who installed it hooked the constant hot and the ignition wire together to a switched source, i rewired that part and hooked up a better ground, all is fine now.
