I have a '02 F-150 and I had noticed in the winter the CD player would heat up and would spit out on the display that the CD is too hot. This happened on longer trips and I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and maybe what can be done to fix it.
never had this problem in my ford truck but in my old chevy blazer my cd player would do the same thing since the heating ducts ran right above it might be a similar thing with yours?
I remember the CD's would come out hot as hell on my '01 Supercrew. I never got that reading though. My current '03 Supercrew doesn't have that problem, so I would believe there must be a cooling fan on the new ones like Hotwheels1973 says.
Intresting responses, my 03 supercrew had a cd/radio replaced under warrenty a few monthes ago. It seems my 3 year old or my wife not sure which one tried to load 2 or 3 cds at the same time. I removed 2 cds trying to fix it myself. The dealership returned the 3rd one in the mail from the original cd player. That was very nice of them. I must have a really good dealership.
Anyway the first cd player never gave a cod but the cds would get very hot. And I haven't really noticed it lately. So maybe it is because the replacement came with a fan on it. I will have to take more notice of the cd temp and let you know.
