Found the same type of burned cap on my 1990 computer. It caused no start conditions and really bad miss at idle ( is any idle at all) when cold or especially when the air was damp and rainy. I chased the condition for about a year, it showed no codes, and finally decided to open the computer and look for a loose or cold solder joint on a component. That is when I found the bad cap. I replaced the cap with the same value but a slightly higher voltage and so far(3 months) so good. It is back to its old reliable self.

That's awesome. I was going to do just that because electrolytic capacitors are super cheap. However, when mine blew it destroyed traces on the board; so mine was garbage anyway.

You can rebuild the traces if the damage is not to widespread. Mine took out the traces also but I rebuilt them using solder and bits of wire from some spare new resistors in all that electrical junk I have been saving for years.
