do i need heat shield?

do i need the heat shield piece between the intake and exhaust? its on a 93 f150

I think you need it.I believe it has been discussed on here before,something about Ford having to have it because of the heat causing a problem with the intake or fuel related parts.I would search the forum for heat shield and check it out.

Yes, or your injectors will have a very short life. Some models even had a blower unit mounted on the right side fender to blow cool air over the injectors and fuel rail.
