Throttle Position Sensor: Anyone ever replaced one...?
Hi all, I guess this is the place I need to post....Gonna be changing out my tps on my '00 F250 PSD. Anything special I need to know or is it plug and play???
Your welcome Dan. I also read somewhere that these units are already precalibrated and there is no adjustment on them. Good luck with the replacement and please post back and let us know how you made out.
bambu, did you test the tps sensor first?
if you 100% sure is bad then disconect negative cabkle from battery, remover the 2 screw and just pull the sensor, is going to click sound, to installed just present the sensor and move it forward about 1/16 then pull back and screw it.
Servitrans, I'm not 100% sure it's bad but I've had throttle hesitations off and on since I bought the truck last Oct. and about 2 weeks ago, I had a real bad hesitation at an intersection, then it sputtered and the SES light came on. It ran rough on and off the rest of the way home and the SES never went out. I had a buddy hook up his OBD and it indicated the TPS was the culprit. He reset the SES and it hasn't come on since but I am still having periodic hestations and some surges so I figure the TPS needs replacing. I heard there was a way to reset the TPS somewhat like you suggested but was not sure how to do it. I'll give it a try and let you know.
Sounds like a possible CPS acting up. Rough idle and a SES could also indicate issues with the UVH.
Really should pull some codes before proceeding with any part replacements.
Took 10 minutes to replace the tps (whole pedal assembly) and the issues are gone. Ihud, I hooked up my friends OBD and it indicated the tps was the issue before I ordered one. I had the cps replaced when I learned of the recall. Thanks to all who responded.
