Do I need to buy the Ford kit for my 1997?

Yes sir, you need the Ford bundle for PSD (or something like that).

I'm about to pull the trigger on this. with my 97 PSD, my wifes 2010 fusion, and my kid wants an explorer, I definitly will want this before we buy a used explorer. yep were a ford family. my wife works for FoMoCo and thats what we drive so I guess I cant go wrong getting it. it is a bit spendy but it works on all my vehicles.
