Just a quick Q - Been driving the HELL out of my truck becuase of a huge job we recently acquired - started her up mid way through the day and for some odd reason the Glow plug light stayed lit. I did not let the plugs cycle - already warm. No performance change at all. My friend said its a CEL - I said NO its not, theres a separate CEL. Whats goin on? Thanks guys -
Well the manual calls for doing a switch bulb test with a scanner to see if they come on and go off like they're supposed to during the test. More digging and it looks like this is the place to start.
REPAIR ground short in circuit 464 (BK/PK) between the WAIT TO START light and PCM.
Of course I skipped through a lot of the charts and made some guesses, but check the BK/PK wire for any shorts. You might also take a look at the main engine wiring harness (big one on the drivers side of engine) to see if that wiring bundle has been chaffing against the valve cover, or against any metal above the valve cover.
My glow plug light stayed on once from the main engine wiring harness, but it was accompanied with a no start.
