ADVANCED AUTO read my CEL and it came back: p01401 what is it? what does this mean? underneath the number it said something to the effect of " manufactuer ___________ malfunction" the was another word in there but i can't remember. Anyone want to handle this one?
The code is probably P1401, and it's likely the culprit is a bad DPFE sensor.
I just replaced the dpfe a few months back. maybe november, i dunno it was warm enough to be out side. could it be that again so soon? even still i can't find 1401 in the haynes book. how will i find out for sure what this code means? does AutoZone have a different scanner?

P1401 = DPFE sensor high voltage, Ford & Mazda.
So as has been suggested, look to the DPFE sensor & I'd add, maybe it's electrical connections & vacuum line connections & let us know what you find.
It is an aftermarket sensor! and wouldn't you know it.....It's bad already! freakin things! So the good news is that it was still covered under warrenty! So out came the old one, and in with the new one, right there in AutoZone's parking lot! Yeah fair to say I was pretty happy not to have to pay the $57 for the replacement. Thanks to all who made this possible!

Good find fix & feedback on the faulty new DPFE sensor. Good to hear it's replacement seems to have put the fix on your problem. Let us know if this one doesn't last, as they may have a bad production run, or maybe Murpheys Law was just messing with you!!!! lol
