I went to a local swap meet this past sunday In hopes of finding some good parts for my "ranger project". Basically it won't be done for quite some time as I plan on running my ranger up to about 120k then "ranger project" will kick in.
Any way the only thing that i could find for a ford was a steering wheel, and some 302 valve covers, that was it, period. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
Although I did see a 71 Boss Mustang, with 400 ponies that I would have seriously thought about selling my truck for!
Does anyone else have this problem when they go to swap meets?? Maybe it's just cause Ford parts are so much better that no one wants to sell them.
I don't blame you for wanting to sell your truck for that Boss, a Boss Mustang is like a magnet. There is something about a Boss that make you want one. I wouldn't say that no one wanted to sell there ford parts but they are harder to find. You know Chevy parts are a dime a dozen.

i went to a swap meet earlier in the year, they had a lot of cool stuff for cheap, but like everywhere else, way mre chevy than anything else. damn ford stuff has to be hard to find.
Don't be discouraged, these swap meets are hit-or-miss. Sometimes you find something, sometimes you find a lot of stuff. Different vendors show up at some shows and not at others, diff private sellers same deal.
Part of the fun is going and looking for parts and things you want or need. Same goes for building your rig, the fun is in getting there, not necessarily finishing!! (Is it ever finished?)
Sometimes you find things at these swap meets that you didn't even KNOW you needed!! LOL
I just read here about the new Ford plant being built, it mentioned that Ford F series have been the best selling truck for 25 years, and the best selling of ALL vehicles for the last 20 years. So why would you think that swap meets, most performance parts houses, hobby specialists, etc have WAY more Chevy parts than Ford parts to sell?
1 - Ford owners like to keep driving their trucks instead of parting them out.
2 - Ford's don't need parts as often, because they last longer.
I can tell you that in NJ when we have these swap meets we see the vendors running around buying up the 'goodies' from the private sellers very early in the contest, thus you can't get the bargains you'd seek. They would then sell the same items from THEIR table for a higher price. However, you should then be able to FIND those parts on their tables, sounds like he didn't have much luck.
I've been going to these things for years, gotta be patient and sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. Again, the fun is in the looking and buying things you didn't know you needed!!
