I often am amazed at the amount of miles or Kms, as we are in Canada that some rack up on their vehicles. I read awhile ago of a guy who has over 500,000 miles on a '71 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland (only one rebuild). I also read of a guy with an Econoline van with more than 900,000 miles on it, with no engine rebuild.
I also read on another web about a guy who got 1.2 million KMs out of his Chevy Astro comercial van with the Vortec 4300 V6, before someone (I think) ploughed into him. Think he was from Saskatchewan.
All these are gassers, so you don't have to have a diesel to get high miles out of an engine, just good , regular maintenance.
i only had 279 on my '96, but i know of a guy who's had 3 expeditions all with over 500,000kms on them. two with the 4.6, one with the 5.4... he was **** about oil changes, antifreeze flushes, plugs every 60 thou etc... only problem he ever had was a rear end burn up on him from an unnoticed leaky rear end seal...
Wow, those are some high numbers. My highest is also our daily driver right now. 1999 F250 PSD with 340,000 km on it and still holding strong......(knocks on wood)
Ive seen some trucks come from some reserves in northern saskatchewan with over 400k on them too when i worked at the tire shop. All 4.6 liters, they seemed to like those engines.
Ive seen some trucks at auction sales with pretty high km on them too. One 2000ish kenworth had 2.2 million on the original cat engine!
