We drove through Jewell late this afternoon after a trip to NE. The north west part of town really got hammered. The cafe that sat at the nw corner along the highway is completely gone along with some house there. One house along the highway is still standing, but moved about 4-5 ft. off it's foundation. I feel really sorry for Chad's folks because it is something they won't be able to replace in terms of the little stuff.
Howdy sorry I didn't post.. been a little busy... I'm totally wiped out.. Sunburnt, and mentally and physically drained. As most of the pictures showed my parents place is gone, We did get the expedition off the roof, and the old international out of the tree :-)... I've spent the last 3 days searching for stuff, bossing people around, making the call on stuff --- I had no idea what I was doing, but man I can boss people around. Dad and mom are alive but will have years to get back to normal. Garden Spyder, Duane, Clint came up to search, load, unload, and eat church lady food :-). We're going up next weekend to haul off all the scrap steel and try and clean up some more. I have a few pics in the phone and will download them :-)
Del You should have called, me or Curtis, we'd have welcomed another friendly face. (Bring work gloves) :-)
WOW!!! Who ticked off Mother Nature? Softball sized hail in Manhattan, Totalled Noticon's van, all the windows busted out, the whole side is busted up.
I had about a baseball sized hail hit the top of the work van, it made me deaf for a little while, my ears are still ringing. I haven't looked at the damage, I am a little afraid to go out and look at the camper and the wife's van.
The wife drove through hail on the way to work and we had about lemon size here at work. I ended up with a few more dings in the 95 yota. I haven't been home yet to check out stuff there. I'll run home at noon the check on things. Sorry to hear about Mark's van and hope other folks here are OK.
Well My folks have a house to rent. One of the local dealerships gave them a car to drive (new tahoe), and they are getting things gathered up... so they are on their way to getting into a "normal" Routine. Thanks for your support, work, and phonecalls. Sorry If I didn't get all of you called back. (Kinda Busy). But I appriciate the thoughts and concerns.
Saturday we are planning on cleaning the big stuff up, and going to the iron pile. Anyone wishing to help is welcome, but don't put yourself out too much. The farm is 2 South and 2 west then 1/2 mile north of the town of Jewell.
Chad, I'd be able to come up on saturday and could provide a ride for any folks in the Madhappiness area. Do we need to bring any tools, like chain saws, pry bars etc.
Let us know if we can help and not just get in the way.
