Well my parents are fine, mom was coming up from the basement when it hit, got blown back downstairs, dad was looking for a pair of boots, on his hands and knees, when the windows started breaking, and wallls dissapeared around him he rode it out hugging the carpet... House gone, shed with thousands of hours worth of work in wagons, buggies and restored vehicles, gone, vehicles gone, some animals gone, some will have to be put down, some missing. Dad has no shoes and they walked 2 miles to the neighbors. I called them 10 minutes before it hit otherwise they wouldn't have known it was coming and would have been in the now gone living room. I just happened to be home on my butt on the couch, and pulled up the storm tracks on the computer..... Just to see who was getting hammered... noticed the location and wind direction and gave them a call. Somone was looking out for them.
Guess I'll loan them my truck until dad get's himself something to drive. I'm taking the sploder to use the winch to get a few things upright and back in their own property...
Thanks for the offer Curt I will see what it looks like in a couple hours and let you know. Leroy Bourbons Truck shop, the new one, Is gone. The Jewell city water tower is gone, don't know what other damage is to town yet. I'm leaving in a half hour or so, bout a two and a half hour drive... probably less, I am antsi, .... Captain Lead foot to the rescue :-P
I bet Chad has had a busy day. I've been hearing that the Tornado has been categorized as an F-3. Sounds like water is restored to the town of Jewell but it is not drinkable yet.
It sounds like the Tornado hit Chad's parent's house before it hit the town of Jewell.
Yes they are. I can't imagine "Hugging the carpet" threw that.
Those pictures actually came from the noaa site that one of Curtis's and I think Chad's friend in Jewell had posted on another site. He said Chad has been very busy.
That's what I expected. Been through that a few times. Clint and Duane went up yesterday and will be back today. Duane lost everything in the last nado that went through this area. So they both knew what to expect. Thing is there is emotion that goes with being there. Pictures just can't capture that. Not in the moutians of Colorado, or the desert of Utah. Or with the damage like this.
I couldn't believe Chads dad was unhurt. Maybe he just won't admit it.
