55 windshield from ??

So, its now time to put a windshield in my green 55.. so I call around and all people have are the 55 Panel Delivery windshields.. I'm guessing this is the same as the F100.. but just checking..

Are these places saying "panel truck" "parcel panel"? A parcel panel is like a bread truck and will not fit your truck. According to one catalog I have they didn't differentiate between convensional cab (pickup) and panel truck. '55 & '56 were the same glass. Glass is also the same for all models of the same year.

I am sure Number Dummy will be around and help clarify it.

I've gone to this kind of site before. They have it set up so when you punch in your information they'll come back and tell you they have it but you have to call for price and availlability. These types of sites just want you to contact them, they won't be able to tell you if they have it until you call them. I would stick with the local glass guys if you have some one in your area.

I don't know if your glass is broke or delaminting leaving bubbles, but my glass was looking pretty bad...so I tried Soft Scrub (bathtub cleaner)....WOW..what a difference...followed that with some wax glass...and Wallaahh...results are: glass looks great!

when I call the locals they ask the same questions with the same list of choices..

What model? F100, I don't see that in the list. Pickup truck.. Nope, not that either.

Sam, I had the same problem when looking for then glass for my truck. Don't worry with the big glass companies, most of them act like we are an inconvienence to them. I found a local guy who does installs and windshield repairs in his garage, he was the only one willing to actually call the distributor to ask if it was available. Mine cost $155 out the door. Or you could go the big buck way and order it from Mid-Fifty. If you don't have any luck, let me know and I'll see if I can get the info from him on where he ordered it.

I seem to have the best luck with the small guys, not always, but most times. The bigger guys only want to sell packaged glass for cars 5-10 years and newer. I think most of them don't even know how to work on our old trucks.

yeh, made 40 calls today, no-one had a clue.. locals vs the big guys..

I'll order the back glass from MF($110), I know it will match my side glass. (One guy wanted $350 to cut gray laminated to match the old glass I have, sheesh!)

found a windshield thru ebay (Bobs Classics Auto glass). They are gonna ship it to austin warehouse for my pickup. $205. Green tinted. Nobody has clear.

Glad you were able to locate one Sam. I couldn't get a hold of my guy today to ask him where his supplier is located. I also couldn't get clear, only tinted. The only shaded one I found was from Mid-Fifty.

On this windshield issue, I have a 53 Panel that needs a windshield. Anybody know where it can be located?
Thanks in advance for reply.

I picked up my new windshield yesterday, and the receipt says '53-55 Panel Delivery'. SO I guess they mean Panel truck as well as pickup..

gasket fits perfect..

$215 to the warehouse.
