Well...to update the bad gas mess up here...4 stations got it...1 shut down w/o selling a drop of it...I think thats prolly the truck driver who caught the problem...It was water in the gas...the oil co. is picking up the tab for all the car repairs....11 at last count...rental cars...tow bills...and a major 1st class headache.
I wish I knew how to ride a motorcycle....sales of scooters are through the roof around here...Vespas are up over 200% over last yr at 1 local dealer according to a news report I saw today.
8 years ago I could fill my tank for $15 at .67 a gallon when I was stationed in Atlanta. Mind you this was during the "food for oil program" years after the first gulf war when things were getting tight in the middle east. Now that we are "invading" their lands OPEC was kind enough to raise the price per barrel to kill our economy which will leave our country in utter ruin when all is said and done. I love the vicious circle...
Did anyone notice that diesel sells for $1 more then gas when 3 years ago it was $1.50 less per gallon? I wonder exactly when they reformulated it to be better then gasoline since it is the worst grade pulled off the refining stack just above fuel oil and lubricating oil at the bottom. But then again why would the oil companies not have record breaking profits for the last few years. Hmmm I wonder why that is? I know I haven't heard of any major break throughs in diesel or the refinement process let alone more refinement plants actually being opened or retrofitted. Then again the oil companies do have to pad their lifestyle and pay off politicians.
I know this topic can go on for years over who is right, why the price of fuel keeps going up, and so on. We will continue to pay through the roof because we have too. I figured I would chime in on something not noticed by most.
When the gas truck is refilling the stations gas tanks-go somewhere else. When gas is pumped into these tanks, it stirs up all the chit at the bottom, and guess where it goes...
Is the gas from the filling stations pump going into your tank kinda slow? The filling stations tanks are low. This means = more chit in your tank!
C4RZ-9030-C .. Locking Gas Cap-Comes with Two Keys (Motorcraft FC-91) Obsolete
Yep, I cried last Sunday the 18th when I filled the Ex $177 and it was on 1/4 tank, now diesel has popped to 4.99 gal. and then Friday when I had my 66 loaded to go to the recycler, I put $65 in her,,,, what a pisser, the good news is, I had 11,940# GVW and got a nice batch of green for the scrap iron and old car from helping clean up the nieghbors yard. 2880# of iron in my truck and 2600# of car on my trailer!
Not bad for a little 6 cyl. !!
im glad i dont drive... cause one of those stations that got the crap gas is less then a half mile from my house... and the guys in there know me... and i prefere to go where everyone knows me... i dont have to flash my ID for smokes... and dont have to show them my ID to swipe my bank card... although AM/PM is cheaper... shell has the convenise of being closer and faster for me...
and airharrely... i dont know your real name... but, i just thought i would mention... there was a big convo about the desile prices in the washington threads
the other thing they should do if its not a locking gas cap... get some sort or screen and stick it over the filler neck on the tank itself and stick the rubber hose back on... it will help keep hoses from being shoved down there... and if the *********s get smart enough to try to break it out... chances are they will make some noise... and you can grab em...
Well you must be forgetting about the folks with the broken fuel guage. You can't put a screen in there or you can't get your broom handle in it to check the fuel level, lol.
I got another rude awakening yesterday. I had to make a run out for a couple hours and realized that I forgot to bring along a bottle of water (refilled from the fridge). I grabbed a 20 oz bottle of water from the cooler in the store that I was in, it was priced $1.25. I got to thinking regular gasoline is about $3.90 (give or take) a gallon, a gallon has 128 oz. in it, so 128 divided by 20 = 6.4. $1.25 X 6.4 = $8.00 a gallon for glorified tap water.
We are pissing and moaning about gasoline at $4.00 a gallon but are smiling while dishing out $8.00 a gallon for a little to drink. What's up with that?
NumberDummy, I snatched the cap from Manderbach Ford first thing this morning. $20.00 plus $7.00 shipping. Nice meeting you at the Super Nats. BarryMc
That sweep speedo cluster was a super bargain you bought from me. I didn't make a dime off it, either. The same guy that had it also had one without the 2 optional gauges..no one bought it, and it was priced at $25 bucks.
Ppl were asleep at that meet!!
The same guy also had a NOS RED steering wheel (1964/70)...no one bought it....that is till I did on Saturday morning.

Why is that bottled water so expensive today? It all comes down to two reasons...some a the higher priced stuff like Evian Water and Perrier is what some ppl think tastes the best.
But the REAL reason why it's so expensive...is who buys most of the bottled water in the US.
Hispanic immigrants...
Yuppers, they didn't trust the water in their previous country (I can't say I blame them for that), so here in the US they do the same thing they did back home...buy gallons of water from the markets.
I've seen ppl pushing shopping carts full of gallon jugs of water out to their cars...it's totally friggen amazing, since all the water here is purified and filtered before it gets to the tap.
But...they won't drink it...it's bottled water or they go thirsty!

Yeah I can't wait to have it rechromed and installed in my truck, it's gonna look good.
