How do you know it is bad? I was getting the 131 code on mine and fixed it by unscrewing the top, dropping a penny in flat and screwing the top back on. It seems the gap between the probe and sensor wears until the signal is lost. I have a 302 FI so am not positive yours is identical.
Another thing to try before dropping the bucks is to take it off and spray a penetrating oil on the pintle and shaft, and work it. I had one a while back that the pintle was stuck open, and it was about $80 to replace, so I tried soaking it in WD40, and it cleaned all the carbon off, and freed it up, and works fine.
ok, a bad diaphragm will cause a vacuum leak, and it unfortuantely does need to be replaced. You could plug the hose temporarily to check and make sure if the hesitation goes away.
