First off I'd like to say Hi to everyone as this is my first post.
I've got a problem with the bracketry inside my passenger seat arm rest. The friggin thing broke. And the dealer says nay on getting me a new one. I just bought the bronco and it's not really a problem for me seeing as I'm the one driving it and my arm rest is fine but I'm getting sick of hearing my girlfriends mouth about it. So anyone with a parts car or something all I need is the armrest and the bolt, and or cable if it came with one. I'm not too sure. I have the cover just nothing else. Thanks in advance for any help...
It looked like a bird landed on it but after cleaning it up it works great.
After fixing it make sure it gets put in the upright position before someone leans or steps over it.
The repair isn't as strong as before, which wasn't all that strong either.
regards
Ken
You will have to investigate to see what the problem is.
More than likely it is the armrest stop that is made of aluminum that has failed due to fatigue.
If the pieces aren't too distorted, you might be able to have it welded back together.
Make sure you thread the little bolts into it prior to welding because the heat may cause the holes close up on themselves.
You will have to carefully dig at armrest foam in order to get to the two little bolts that allow you to remove the piece of aluminum. This can be done after removing the assembly from vehicle.
I do have the arm rest itself and from what I can see the aluminum bracket is broke. I'm gonna take it up to my dads metal fab shop tomorrow and weld it back together I guesswhat I really need to know is what peices should there be cuz when I bought it the arm rest was already off and I can't find the bolt anywhere so that I know I'm missing but other then that I have no clue.
Well first off Welcome to FTE...Bronco Replacement Parts 1980-96 them out....good luck...why not try to fab a new one out of metal rather the weld the aluminum back it wont be near as strong.....should be easy if you have access to the tools
I thought about doing that too wayne and now that I actually took it outside and held it up to the seat I guess from the way I'm looking at it all I'm actually missing is the bolt and it's definately MIA. so anyone who could help with this as far as sizing I would greatly appreciate it
ebay store...."tiresmokin" has complete parts lists for $3.99....i bought one for my 89 bronco....man ive looked everywhere on the internet and cant find anything....only thing i can think of is to take the other one out and maybe go to home depot or harware store and match it up ....sorry
