1990 bronco
automatic with overdrive
runs smooth as a babys butt 0-55 and 70-90
but from 55-70 it sounds terrible, rumbles, seems like the driveshaft.
crawled under and there is no play in it whatsoever i cant budge the thing.
looks like there is a small leak infront of the transfer case somewhere, maybe caused by the vibrations.
what could this be?
I have had Ujoints replaced and a new driveshaft (old one was bent)
Also new Transmission and had rear dif rebuilt.
Tires are tip top shape and so are the rims and they are centered perfect
What bearings are in this area????
Where is the vibration? Front or rear? If it's front does it make a difference if your hubs are locked or not? When you checked the driveshaft was the t-case in neutral and any load taken of the drivetrain? If there is a load on the driveshaft you will not be able to tell if the joints are bad or not. It is even better if you can jack up the rear, put the t-case in neutral and check the shaft that way.
put transfer case in neutral and checked driveshaft
driveshaft feels loose only "guessing inside rear dif"
Can something from the rear dif make it feel like its shaking under the center console?
Also looks like there is a slow leak up front of the transfer case somewhere.... maybe even coming off the transmission... but thats all new.
Most likely the transfer case?
It's tough to say. Could be your tranny mounts. Could be your t-case too but who knows. Real tough to tell without driving it. I would check your tranny mounts and motor mounts. If they are good you could just take it to a reputable shop or start eliminating things. Take the rear driveshaft out and drive it on the front axle to see if the vibration is still there. If it is in your tranny or t-case there is not much you can do except take it out and rebuild it.
i had a shimmy or shake in my 03 once i got to around 50mph-70mph....before and after that very little to no shake or shimmy...thought it was the drive shaft or rotors or u joints...try getting your tires balanced...thats all that was wrong with mine after i spent over $500 taking it to different shops....maybe or maybe not...it's worth a shot and only cost around $20.....good luck
Could be the double cardan joint if your truck has one it will be the big thing with two U joints that bolts to the T-case. Thats what mine was bad vibration from about 65-75mph, it eventually started squeeking, I just went to bronco graveyard and bought a whole new drive shaft, came with the new joint and rear U joint already installed with front flange too, just stuck it in and was done.

the whole driveshaft is new from the transfer case to the rear dif
i know the dif could be bad or maybe the mounts
Im not sure if I can find all the mounts. I must be missing something.
Ill go have the dif looked at...
Anyone know a good shop in southern NH??????
