I have a 95 350 crew dually that the transmission is pretty much toast. I have access to a transmission from the same vehicle but the 96 model. Can anyone tell me if those years are interchangeable or what to look for? Thanks.
If the transmission is an automatic it is an E4OD which will interchange. I am sure the same goes for a manual as well. The E4OD is a good tranny that has been around for some time. They are still using them today as a matter of fact. But yes 95 to 96 should interchange without a problem.
Thanks Mud! I picked up the tranny in WV last week assuming it would be ok. I couldn't pass up a 78k mile unit for 600 bucks!! Now I just have to find an instruction sheet for making the change.
I was thinking that the 4R100E was used in the 1/2 tons and other light duty trucks, and the E40D was used in the heavy duty applications. My 2004 lightning had an E40D tranny in it, that is the only reasin why i said that.
