My 66 f-100 originally came as a 2-tone black and white truck based on the paperwork I found in the glovebox. It doesn't appear to have ever had the chrome trim on the sides which normally separates the two colors (at least from what I can tell). Did they come this way?
I looked at it a little more closely today and I see that someone has filled the holes where the trim used to be. The original paperwork is in the glovebox, and it clearly says black and white paint. I will post the door tag data later and see if someone can decode it.
If someone would be kind enough to decode this info for me I would appreciate it. The truck has a 352-2v motor with what I believe is a C-O-M.
129 hp sounds a little low for a 352.
Thanks,
Mark
p.s. the original paperwork also said 1,250# springs. What would the stock springs have been?
the VIN is as follows...
F10 = F series 1/2 ton 2wd truck
A = 240 6 cyl engine, 129 hp, 1 bbl carb.
N = Norfolk, Va assy.
The lack of a color code based on what you typed tells me it was a special ordered color combo..and the 6 digit DSO...the last 4 are the order number as it is indeed a specially ordered truck. The DSO (25)is Richmond, Va where it was ordered through.
872880 = very early June 66 build date
G is a C-O-M auto. trans
09 = 3:70 rear end gears, non locking

Or maybe the door tag has been changed. What color is the truck and interior now?
The door tag matches the tag attached to the firewall. The truck is all white now. I can see some blue paint underneath the white in a couple of places on the front fenders, so I assume it was painted blue at some point. I also see black paint underneath where it has flaked off, so I believe it was black and white originally like the paperwork says. I pulled back the seat cover, and the upholstery is blue. I guess that was changed when the truck was painted blue. I guess a lot can happen in 42 years.
These trucks did not have any kind of tag attached to the firewall....the VIN is stamped on the top surface of the right frame rail. When you are standing on the side of the truck, its location is about parallel with the alternator.
The VIN is bracketed by astericks on either end and the numbers/letters are about 1/4" tall...a wirebrush and/or putty knife should help you find it in short order to confirm.
The only other tags ive ever heard of under the hood on these trucks were attached to the carburetor, the engine assembly and the steering box.

I am at work right now, but I am certain I saw a tag on the firewall and I cross checked the VIN to make sure they were the same. I will verify the exact location when I get home tomorrow morning.
It could be a temporary tag; these trucks had a temp tag given to the owner from the dealership I beleive; and maybe the 1st owner place it on the firewall.
I got a two tone black & white 65 in my gallery; it was orginially a blue & white, but I like the black & white better. I'm shock that John mention it wasn't an option color. I like it the best; seen too many red's blue & green two toner's. Love my black & white gets alot of complements as well.

Didn't say there weren't any, said I didn't recall any. I have seen a tag pinned to the top of the firewall on some, but not on all. It didn't seem to bother the running of the truck so I didn't think much about it.
Black trucks have really picked up speed in the last 10-15 years.
