Well, this weekend I have officially started the body work on the cab. I replaced the lower door pillar on the passenger side and am going to be replacing the passenger side front cowl.
The previous owner had bondo'ed the louvers and attempted to patch the bottom of the cowl but it was pretty bad..
I started by hanging the door, aligning it, and then adding some braces inside the cab since I would be cutting the door pillar out and the front cowl.
Here are some pictures of my progress:
Cleaning up the area to be re-attached:
Racking it in before hanging/door alignment:
Hanging the door:
Aligning door (good old bondo applicators)
I also filled an antenna hole that the previous owner had put 3m tape under and covered in bondo (which I accidently popped out, not knowing about it being there)
That is it so far, I will be finishing the cowl tomorrow I have bear claws on order but they wont be here until atleast tuesday.
Thanks guys. I ran out of welding gas tonight, as my brother is finishing building his motorcycle frame in my garage as well.
Bummer too because tomorrow is sunday and Monday the shop most likely will be closed due to the holiday. I'll have to call some friends tomorrow and borrow some.
Thanks for all the compliments guys I appreciate it.
Yes, keep the pics coming, I'll have to do that to all four corners of my cab plus floorboards. I've been slow to get started because I can't figure out where I want to start or the right way to start. Nice job!
Nice metal work....and you can get to that door jam switch easier now too!!!
are you just cutting out the rot...or are you gonna chop it some??? suicide doors??? Lambo doors ?!?!?
