Just priced the rangoon red for the two tone I'm hoping to do....yikes...it is 3 times more expensive than the whites and lighter colors!! I may end up going with the two tone yellow instead...although my dash is all rangoon red (odd, becuase it's a custom cab but doesn't have the black dash cover). If I go with yellow, I'll have to repaint the dash....which, for all the other work I'm doing, may not be so bad. I looked here in the gallaries for a 64-66 two toned yellow and wimbeldon white but didn't find any....any ideas?
any good sources for parts over in Central Oregon Bertha? I'm in Portland and most of they yards here are pretty picked over or rusted out...
I still see a few around, I was is a U-pull-it in Redmond and seen a 64 F100 that was in good shape. The yard in Prineville sold, but I understand that the PO held back the old trucks and cars that were in the yard. Have seen a few nice trucks around for sale on the Bend Criags List.
To the best of my knowledge all tutone trucks(which mine is) the major split areas was the side moldings...they used the molding clip hole centers as their guide and carried it through on all the affected parts using that method...the bed beyond the rear of the molding goes straight back and round into the tailgate jamb. on the gate itself, its matched up to the bed split line which I believe cooresponds with a body line in the gate.
The hood is a bit trickier...it goes to the end of the spear...you dont see a split area on the hood at all on the side as when hood is closed. where the hood paint split ends it goes due south and inboard under the big hood flange which faces the top of fenders as when closed...it goes all the way to the end straight across. The rear split goes around rear to edge where it folds inside...that area when closed faces the cowling.
I just was going thru some pics the other day...of a blue and white tutone I pourposely took pics of showing paint split details...when I get them together, I will put them on a disc and upload to my gallery as the paint split question seems to come up often.
