The fuse that was blown was for the data port linkup under the dash and the cigarette lighter.
At the same time the tech told me he moved the 20 amp maxi fuse under the hood inside the power disribution box to another 20 amp location.
I looked at the fuse he moved and it looked liked the fuse had been hot before.
Any ideas?
Anyway the truck is running at this time so I will wait and see what happens.
The fuse for the cigar lighter & data port should not keep the truck from starting. If the no start happens again pay close attention to the dash. See if all the lights function normally, or if some of them are doing something different. Also watch your tach to see if ti moves while cranking the motor.
Thanks for the info I checked the box and there is no superchip installed in fact the box has never been cut if there was one in there.
Drove the truck for a little while today and while idling in gear the truck died this happened twice the truck restarted right away.
Does anyone have any clues?
Then let's start with the basics. What type of motor oil are you running? Is it full? How old is it? Can you tell us anything else about when it stalls? Is it just when you let off the accelerator? Does it happen at all speeds? Does it happen after you hit the brakes or as your coming to a stop? How does your tranny fluid look and smell?
Does it sputter or jerk when it dies, or is it like someone just turned the key off? What dash lights come on or flash when the truck dies?
OK Here we go.
1.We are using Rotella and is new and is changed every 5000 to 7000 miles.
2. This is where it gets confusing the truck has died when I let off the accelerator but also dies when idling while in gear or just parked and idling.
3. I have not seen it die when coming to a stop.
4.The transmission smells normal and is at the correct level.
5. It dies like the key was shut off. The battery light comes on I have not seen any other lights flashing.
6. I do not know if this matters but the o-rings on the fuel injectors were just replaced, there were two bad o-rings and we replaced all the o-rings. The valve cover gasket wiring is good.
I'll ignore the O-rings since they shouldn't be causing your problems. For the truck to die like the key was being shut off leads me to believe you have an electrical problem. If you have chaffed wires somewhere, they can cause the PCM to "reset" when the bump against metal and short. This could explain your KAM error codes. It's also possible that you have a bad PCM.
Is there any sign of moisture around or on your PCM from a windshield leak? Check the wiring that goes to your CPS for any chaffing. Also check your main engine wiring harness for the same. That's the big harness that runs up and over the drivers valve cover. It's been known to rub against the valve cover, or above the valve cover where the wires go through a metal bracket.
I'll try and think of any more sensors or wires that might cause this type of problem. Hopefully someone else has some more ideas.
I'll check all that out in the morning and let you know the results.
The windshield was recently replaced but the PCM is dry and there are no water stains or water trails around the PCM
I remember somewhere in the threads stating the CPS was changed, it is possible the new one is worse than the old. Do you have a spare you can put in to see if it changes? Most time that stores a code as well. I agree it sounds like moisture stuck some where. You might pull the back plug of the PCM and re seat it just to make sure it is not a connection there.
<P>The truck was driven yesterday and after driving the truck for about thirty minutes the SES light started flashing and when the truck was pull off the highway so that the codes could be read the SES light went off.<BR>After about another fifiteen minutes of driving the accelerator was released to slow down for a sharp curve and when pressing the accelerator the truck felt like it died and there was no power and the SES light came on again no other dash lights came on at this time. The truck was pulled off the highway still running to read the code and the truck was shut off to put the OBD II reader on and when the ignition was turned on the SES light was off and the reader read no codes but it did show IM message like a impinding code. The truck restarted and drove fine going home. Dazed and confused.</P>
