The truck was purchased a couple of years ago it is a 2001 f-250 7.3L with 315000 miles on it at this time. The o-rings were recently replaced on the fuel injectors which was causing blowby, the valve cover gaskets are in great shape and the wiring was great for these many miles, The CPS was replaced also.
The truck has been dying whenever I let up on the accelerator which made me to believe it was the CPS sensor changed out the sensor it still dies.
The service engine soon light comes on after the truck has been runnning for a while and when sitting at a idle the light goes out.
We do not own or have installed a chip or any computer upgrades since we owned the truck since we have owned it. If it is a chip we do not have the original one to back to stock.
The batteries are three months old and the cables are corrosion free. The alternator was also replaced at the same time.
I thought 0603 & 0605 were soft codes that would not set the check engine light. Are there any other codes present, and what are you using to pull the codes?
You might ask just to make sure the machine is compatible with your motor. Since these engine were designed by IH for medium duty trucks many code readers are not capable of pulling all the codes these engine may throw.
This is what the service manual says about your codes
MA1 CONTINUOUS DTC P0603 IS SET WHEN THE PCM HAS LOST KAPWR
Note: This code may have been caused by disconnecting the PCM or the batteries.
• Possible causes:
battery or PCM has been disconnected.
battery cables loose or poor connection.
battery discharged.
open in KAPWR circuit.
blown fuse.
PCM.
• Check for other codes.
• Key on, engine off.
• Clear DTCs.
• Cycle key off, then on.
• Perform retrieve Continuous DTCs
MD1 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P0605
• DTC P0605 exists only when there has been an internal failure of the powertrain control module (PCM).
• Rerun Scan Tool Diagnostic Test.
Anyone have a picture handy of what an installed chip looks like so he can look for this on his truck?
If you have a chip in there, disconnect the batteries and remove the chip, then reconnect the batteries. Are there any gauges that have been added to your truck?
No gauges have added but the batteries have been discnnectoed for a couple of days while we tore down the top half of the motor to get to the injectors could this be a code coming up because it has lost memory and not enough drive cycles have not been completed?

That will throw the 0603 every time. I'm not sure about the 0605.
Whew that it is good news.
One more question the 20 amp fuse under the dash that I think is for the PCM blew a fuse would this cause the truck to die and why would the fuse blow. After replacing the fuse the truck started.
I am not sure which one it is because I am not in the truck a this time.
