Removing Tailgate bed liner with handle

A few weeks ago there was talk about those with the tailgate step and handle and the handle part getting in the way (no flat surface) when the tailgate is down to work on. Has anyone with that option gotten rid of it (the handle) yet and put the bedliner part on the tailgate that comes on a truck without the handle? I'm looking to see what that part would cost and part number as I like the step but don't need the handle at my age and would like a flat area to sit/work on when the gate is down. Can it be done?

Thanks

I believe all you would need to purchase is the standard inspection panel that comes on the regular tailgates without the step. You could probably get one for a couple bucks at a junkyard, should be the same bolt pattern as previous model super dutys.

I paid $100 for the inspection cover and bolts then LineX'd the whole thing.
