Anyone remove the tailgate handle and replace it with the standard tailgate panel? I like the step but the handle makes the tailgate hard to slide stuff in and out plus you can't sit on it comfortably.
after removing the plastic tailgate cover there are 6 torx screws that need to be removed to remove the handle, then all you need is the panel from any 2007-current model without the handle and 8 screws that have fully threaded shanks.
i forget the size, but they are much cheaper from a hardware store. The blank panel is roughly $80. from the dealership. I'm sure it'd be much cheaper at a junk yard.
as you can see i still have to spray the bed liner on the tailgate...if i can ever find the time.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Any idea what the part number is? I may go by the junk yard and see if there is a used on around. Although, tailgates are rarely undamaged in Los Angeles.
