Ok here goes. I had my truck cleaned and didn't notice the selector switch was flipped to 4x4 low. I don't know how far I drove but safe to say 50 miles and hitting 75, 80 MPH. The wheels were not locked in. I parked it after checking that it would still lock and unlock and looked for fluid leaks. All seems fine but what do I do now to make sure all is good...fluid drain through a screen looking for chuncks (hopefully not) and if this comes out ok what next? You are all great on this forum and have learned tons, thanks.
You can't go 70-80 mph in 4x4 low. The thing is, if you didn't put it in N with the brake on then turn it to 4x4 low, it would not go in low. It stayed in high. I don't think you hurt anything. It only went to high, not low.
Thanks, thats the kind of answer I was praying for. How would I know if the hubs weren't locked in. Would I actually feel the front differential working.
Sorry, I worded that last reply wrong. I know that the hubs were not locked in so thats why I was wondering how I would feel it. I know that the front drive line was engaged and the switch was on 4x4 low but it couldn't have been running in low with the tranny in drive, correct.
Like Marc said. Put truck in N step on brake, turn switch to 4x4 low, wait up to 20 seconds. If don't engage put in R, back a little and stop, put in N while holding the brake pedal. Tell us what happens.
