Help! 6.0 trouble codes
I bought an '03 F-250, 6.0,auto, CC, 4x4, LB that now has about 139,000 miles on it. I made a custom 4" exhaust with no muffler or Cat, (sounds awesome) installed a K&N cold air intake, and Hypertech Power Programmer III. After installing the cold air intake and exhaust, I test drove it and after about 10 minutes of driving the emisions light came on. The codes were (P006A MAP-MASS or volume air flow correlation) and (P0401 EGR flow insufficient) After some research i found quite a few people have had the emmisions light come on after doing various mods. I installed a BD Boost Builder (wires into the MAP sensor) which claims to give you more boost, performance and keep the light from coming on. It stayed off for a day and then came back on. (Did give about 10 more pounds of boost) Iv recently installed the Hypertech and had to clear the codes to do so and after the install the light came back on after about 3 days. It seems like there should be a way around this.
My questions are; has anyone else had similar problems? What should I check? Should I just put the stock air box back in? I was also told that when the light comes on the ECM goes into closed loop or "Limp mode" is that true?
I know a lot and am pretty mechanically inclined but dont know everything and am always searching to learn new information. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
