I have a 1994 F250 2WD. The "red" Brake light and "amber" ABS light comes on after braking a few times. after the truck is turned off the lights go off. The last time the lights came on and I got home the rear brakes were smoking, and it seemed as if the parking brake was on.
You definitely have some serious problems. First thing is to make sure that the master cylinder resevoir is full of fluid. That will cause the red ABS light to go on.
Next I would take apart the rear brakes and look for problems. If you smoked them, then you are going to need at least rear shoes. Make sure the parking brake is not stuck and everything is lubed up the way it should be.
Is your speedometer acting up? If so, it's probably a dirty tone ring inside the differential. If not, then the ABS problem is probably in the computer, or possibly a short or broken wire in the ABS system. If it were me, I wouldn't care too much about losing the ABS.
I have ckecked the master cylinder and replaced the rear brake shoes. I didn't see anything there that looked like it could have caused the problem. The speedometer is working fine. I have even checked the sensor in the rear end as is mentioned in many other posts. I have no problem lossing the ABS. Where is and how would I disable the computer.

ABS Light On (Never ending noise coming from under the hood)
Ford F150 2000 4x4 Off-road. My ABS light has com on and with that a continuous running noise is comming from under the hood. I don't know if it is a pump or modual, but the only way I can get it to stop is to pull the fuse and run on standard breaks. Does anybody have an idea of what part is making that noise, or likely making the noise. Also what I can do as a novice to check it out. Can you have an ABS light read like you can an Engine light and get a code? I tried going to several large national chain parts stores and they read the engine code, but it revealed nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
