So, I have a click that i hear all the time now. It is really defined when I accelerate and then coast, I will then hear the click with the rpms and it will slow as the truck slows.
I thought is was the vacuum pump so I changed it and no difference.
I had an exhaust guy look at all the exhaust and he said no leaks. It sounds like a exhaust manifold leak.
I don't know how to record it for you all, any ideas?
Maybe I should take it to the dealer to figure it out.
A real stethoscope won't work you will need to get the mechanics one or try what the others have suggested pin point where the noise is coming from and I'm sure these guys will help you from there
I have replaced the vacuum pump. I now hear the pump start to spin every time I start the truck. I don't really hear the click at idle but have to rev it up to about 2K and let off the accelerator to hear it.
it'd be worth checking for loose bolts that may be hitting the back of a pulley. i had the exact same symptom and looked at a lot of stuff before finding that a bolt had walked loose. click click click!
