Next time it does it, imediately try and turn engine by hand. Do it before it locks up so you have an initial idea what kind of effort is required to turn it over. I use a 15/16th 12p on a 2'bar. Kept it in the truck.
Thats how I found out it's electrical. It never was hard to turn over. But acted exactly like it was hydrolocking.
As far as spittin stuff out of the tailpipe. I'm guessin' your 94 has no emmisions like my 90. It spits stuff out all the time. especially on warm days, cool nights. I only noticed it because I parked it next to the garage. When I started it the next morning, I thought someone had spray painted a spot on the door.
No this is a lot of stuff and when i turned it over by hand i could hear the liquid coming out pluss it was missing after it started. I'm pretty sure I had sum junk holding the pintel open.
It hasn't done it sine monday but when i start it it puffs a bit of black smoke, more than useual and has a sligh fule knock that gose away.

The liquid sound your are hearing is just probably the compression of you turning the engine over, ever turn an air compressor over slowly and hear that hissing noise?
If you had enough liquid in the cylinder to hydrolock it, there is no way you could get it free up by turning it by hand, that would mean the engine could hydrolocked on a compression stroke. You would have to take out an injector or glow plug to allow the fuel to escape.
My vote is on bad battery cable, also goes along with slow cranking.
So then if it is a battery cable why is liquid coming out of the exaust? And I do know what litle duke is talking about in regards to his garage door but this is much more then the light mist. Also how would a bad battery cable cause a miss?
One of the by products of the combustion of diesel and gasoline is water vapor. I've seen many healthy cars start, and water comes pouring out the exhaust.
Well tomarow I'm going in to work to pull my injectors and pop'em. I'm going to take my old ones with me and hopefully will be able to make a good set.
well two Injetor were dribling badly and three more werent chatering or had funky spray patters, but were useable. I found two of my old injectors that had acceptable spray patterns and used them but the crack presure was about 200 psi lower than the rest so it idles kinda ruff but I have lower egts less smoke and more power and it starts fine.
Also when i pulled the aircleaner housing I found water oil sluge in the line coming from the CDR almost looked like coolant but my coolant is well coolan collerd and the water in it was almost clear with a slight yellow tinge. The oil in the crank case looked fine. I also put my coolant presure testor on it and ran it no compression in the cooling system, and then pressurised it to 15 psi droped 5psi in 1.5 hours because of my pinhole leak in my first atempt at sodering a radiator. Also i have white smoke from burning coolant.
I donlt know of bad oil could be the problem, but changing the oil would be a good idea since there is a good chance that some of that leaking fuel made its way into the crank case.
What makes you sure that its burning coolant? Is the white smoke always there even after running at operating temperature for a while?
Oops I meant I have no white smoke indicating I am not burning coolant sorry. I'll be changing the oil tuse day after i get an oil analisys done to see if there is any coolant in there.
OK, so the only remaining mystery is the sludge from the CDR, right?
The only thing that comes to mind besides possible oil contamination (from leaking injectors), is condensation build up in the crank case. This is not likely unless you have been making repeated cold runs of the engine without allowing it to run long enough to "burn" off the condensation that normally occurs for the first few minutes of running.
