I'm building a 1923 T-bucket with a 292;
Here's what I want, I know it's not practical, but I'm just wondering if It's possible:
First thing I want is a blower. Not turbos, but a roots type blower.
Then, I want a Hilborn injection setup; and somewhere around 12-13:1 CR...
This car would be used for show and racing...
I know, not practical, but definately FUN!

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
PS:
I've got a race cam and headers lined up, and have been referred to someone said to work WONDERS on Y-block heads...

I think you need to do a lot more research on engine building and what works with what before you start spending any money on parts. Most engines with superchargers run around 8-1 compression. 13-1 with a supercharger is more like top fuel (nitro methane!) dragsters.
Buy some books, read, listen, and talk to someone who knows and doesnt want to take a naive kids money even though he knows it wont work. It'll save you a lot of kick'n yourself later!
Sorry; I lost track of myself in that post; I understand about the compression thing, but I'm not planning on being able to find a blower to go on.
I know that most of what I want is going to be impossible to get after researching a little.
So, here's what I'm thinking now:
4bbl, warm cam, headers, and have some work done on the heads.
It won't be for a while, but I need some help tracking down parts...

hp guy, What you are after is not impossible, just expensive. I know it is possible, because i am diong it! I have a 48' Ford i am building. The car has a full Morrison Frame, channeled Body and numerous other mods. I am building a stroker Y-block, with an enormous 4" bore out of a Marine block. I have the Hilborn already, and i am in the build-up stages of converting it to electronic injection, controlled via a lap top. It will also feature a blower from Powerdyne with about 9lb. of boost. Everything, and i do mean everything has to be hand fabricated. Nobody makes any such things for the old Y-blocks. This engine will be a little over 350 cubic inches and run around 8:5to 1 compression. I have also put a late model T-5 5 speed, hand made timing cover, and the list goes on. Here is the down side. A Hilborn, if you can find one will sell between $3,000 and $5,000. The electronic conversion will run $5,000 to have it done, and around $3000 to do it yourself(like i am). Of course you will need a good lap top if you do not already. Software will run around $1000. The blower is at least another $2000, and you still have a motor to build! As I write this, i realize how nuts i am. I hope John Mummert is who will be helping you with the heads, he is very good with Y-blocks. If you are interested in this any further, let me know, i can help a little with the do's and don'ts, and i can lead you to a guy who has tried (and failed) to make a similar unit work mechanically (without electronics) It would work for a race only project, but will not work on the street. Anyway, you are right, it is a cool thing, practical? i really hope so, my car is being built for show, but i love to drive them. I am still a few years away from completion of the car. See ya FOMOGO
