My blower motor is getting squeaky so I think it's about time to replace it.
Here's the thing, my truck has dealer installed AC and when I was looking at the different blower motors on rockauto, they distinguish different motors by W/O AC, w/factory AC and w/dealer AC. The blower motors that it says are for dealer AC are the most expensive.
I'm not convinced that there would be a different blower motor for each setup. For all I know, since my truck left the factory without AC, it could still be using the same blower motor.
Has anyone else here dealt with this? Up until I got my AC fixed several months ago, I didn't even realize that it was a dealer installed setup.
My 86 F150 has factory A/C, so I cannot help regarding the blower motor differences, but I can tell you that when the motor begins to squeal, it normally is the bearings. The additional drag will pull more amps and soon will fry the resistors which control the speed.
Some have posted having success removing the blower motor and lubricating the bearings with light weight oil. If I remember correctly, a small hole might have to be drilled to gain access to one or both bearings?

Good point, David. I should have thought of that as I have the original motor from Dad's truck and he did exactly that - drilled a hole under the hood into the rear bearing and lubed it. Was that way for 20 years or so and worked well.
