Hey Guys; I normally hang around in the slick sixties, and bumpside sections, but I need some advice. I bought a new 08 F150 (with towing package), and my electronic trailer brake controller just doesn't want to fit anywhere. It would fit in the little cubby-hole under the cupholder/ashtray, but I can't even get my hand behind there to run wires.
I just wondered if any of you have come up with a nifty controller that fits without drilling mounting holes.
Thanks in advance for your help! Brett
Pulled out the radio bezel, two bolts undo the sliding cupholder tray. The cubby simply unclips I was able to mount and drill a wiring hole in the back and I just put my prodigy in it's pocket down there. This cubby/pocket can't be to expensive (better than drilling into a colored plastic piece. I figured in the center HVAC/Radio stack is better than not being able to get to it if I need too fast. I will post pics up as soon as I can.

That is were I first put mine, after it was done I figured out that if the cup holders are out you cant get to it and is kind of in the way if someone is sitting in the middle. How I have it in the pic there is a bracket under the dash that I mounted it too....like it was there for it...
Open the cup holder and pull firmly on the HVAC/Radio bezel straight out it has about six clips that hold it to the dash board. There are a number of electrical connectors that hold it to the dash. The cup holder has two bolts with 9/32 or similar sized heads that come out. Wiggle the cup holder then the bottom cubby is simple clipped in with mounting clips. I drilled holes and mounted it and drilled a 2 inch hole int he back for the wires. Here are some pics of my controller easier reach for me than at the bottom of the dash. I sure miss the integrated controller on my 2006 F250.
I may cut the back of the pocket with a demel and move it back some more but, the prodigy cannot be flush due to the controls for the gain and brake boost plus the manual swipe lever on the bottom. But this is as far back as the prodigy goes in an 04-08 F150 center pocket.
Anyone know where a Cobra 25 Nightwatch CB radio can go in the F150?
Just went out and looked while the truck race is under caution. My truck has this bracket, too. It really does look like that's what it's for. I wonder if Ford markets a controller that fits there?!
Thanks, that's where I'm putting mine.
Just my thoughts--NASCAR isn't nearly as much fun, now that Toyota owns it!
Ford does not have one for the 2004-2008 the new 2009 will have one in there but, it will not work with the 04-08 chassis and computers and the center stack looks like it will be just different enough for it to not work.
