what year is it? can you get the casting numbers off the driver side bellhousing flange?

no matter what it is it will be a TALL deck motor.

yeah it will swap in a pickup with no problems

regular is a 9.2 deck and the tall is a 10.2

the 10.2 intake is wider then your typical BBC

the pistons have 3 compression rings and an oil ring and a thick crown

99% were 366cuin
366 3.937 bore x 3.76 stroke
427 4.25 bore x 3.76 stroke
454 4.25 bore x 4.00 stroke
All physically look the same, but by checking the stroke you could eliminate the 454
When they left the factory there was an identification plate somewhere inside the cab (different years in different places) that gave the engine code but by now the engine could be replaced.

A few years ago a guy had me put a 366 into his 78 3/4 ton chebby 4X4. He happened to have one and wanted to make use of it. Tall deck not an issue, had to change something on the dist and upper water outlet but I can't remember what. Bottom line - you can use them in a pickup, but I don't know why you'd want to.

this site may cover it if you can ever get to the numbers

www.mortec.com

in our 2 grain trucks we have a 366 in each of them....one is a screaming motor....the other is a pootch (of course its a tandem missing 1st gear)...... we also have a 427 we pulled out of a semi we bought several years ago.

Friend of mine had a tall block 427 in a Chevelle. There are no performance intake manifolds for them.

The 366 is very limited for performance as well, can't bore it, bore too small for bigger valves.....

As will all things, if the price is right and you're just going to drop and run with it, you can't go too wrong.
